Most people are aware that a woman can have many complexities with what's called the pelvic floor, especially worsened after complicating childbirth. These problems can include pain, lack of control of urine or incontinence, and can cause painful sexual intercourse.
Guess what men? We have pelvic floors too, and they also cause issues for us, especially as we age. For example we can also have pain in our pelvic floor. Although we frequently think of it as back pain, the actual muscles in pain are in the area from your front pubic bone to your tailbone.
Women have become comfortable discussing these issues because they can be very debilitating. And in fact, there are numerous locations now that offer services for women's health issues.
But men, we are stubborn, and are not comfortable talking about the no-no area. It is time that we change that.
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, nerves and blood vessels, just like any other body part. First we start with exercises (yes, it’s true) to strengthen those muscles. This is one of the keys to any other treatment for muscle dysfunction. Most commonly, the pelvic floor muscles remain in a low grade spasm, making the muscles not work correctly. When those muscles remain tight, they can also constrict the nerves as well as the arteries providing blood flow. There are several other well researched procedures that can be utilized to treat each of those conditions.
Insurance does not cover the procedures that we use to address your Men's health issues. We will gladly discuss our fees.
Men, we like to pretend everything down there is nothing that needs to be talked about. But, talk to your partner about it. Talk to your doctor about it. There are solutions to your issues, even if the blue pill hasn't seemed to make much difference.
