In the post-surgical hip patient, treatment is focused on regaining of strength due to post-surgical weakness and return of available joint range of motion and functional mobility/gait. In the patient with pelvic injury or misalignment, attention is placed on techniques to correct alignment and then stabilization in order to provide long-term control of the instability.
